So I unlocked my iphone 1g (Edge). When I put in a SIM card that is deactivated the battery life is great.

When I put in my sim card that is 6 years old (It is an AT&T wireless Blue sim card, from before they were cingular) it sucks up the battery and it runs down in about 6-7 hours.

Also if I put the phone next to my old tv I get all sorts of cell sound disturbance like it is trying to constantly contact the cell towers. Anyone know what is going on?

thanks!

an old AT&T wireless SIM?

I doubt it's actually getting service. I thought they turned off those ATT sims years ago. when it searches for signal constantly it eats battery super quick.

you'll need a newer sim.

the cell sound is gsm interference with your speakers. this is a well known phenomemon. it's not your phone

I get service just fine... they never swapped out anything. The sim works fine in my iphone (just poor battery life) and works fine in my razr.
