Help! Update JB 1.1.4 to 3.0 then unlock?

Hi all,

I can only seem to find bits and pieces of how to update (then unlock again) my jailbroken 1.1.4 iphone to 3.0 (or 3.0.1). (I'd upgrade to 3.1 of I could unlock afterwards)

All of the videos/guides I have found seem to miss out information I need for my particular situation, or contradict each other with issues/problems that may or may not arise.

I know the basics are: restore, update, jailbreak.

What I really need is a STEP BY STEP video or guide that covers every step, and how to avoid every problem.

I can do it all on Windows Vista or XP (I know there have been problems using Vista).

I don't mind losing my installer/cydia apps- the main thing is being able to JB & unlock it afterwards (the phone is US, I'm using it in UK with UK network sim). Also, when the phone restores I'll lose my unlock and I DON'T have the original factory network sim- so I need to work around that.

I hope one of you techno heroes can PLEASE help me out!
