Difference between Redsn0w and PwnageTool

What's the difference between these 2 pieces of software. Don't they both do the same thing...jailbreak the phone? Is one preferred over the other?

in my experience, redsn0w seems more in the works in terms of gui. Pwnagetool was very polished. They did the exact same thing in terms of jailbreak. Pwnage tool gives u a little more option to customize it beyond cydia/icy.
