So this iPhone came to you NOT unlocked but Jailbroken. It came with a Turbo SIM which isnt software unlocked. So first you got lied to and paid 800 for an jailbroken 3G.
Then you went against what the note said (he probably should have told you why though) and updated anyway...
Rofl. UCLA law you say?
Wow, good one, bro'!. You just kicked a cripple when he's down. Congrats, your trophy is on its way. Put it up on your mantle, next to all your accomplishments, see how nice it looks.
Sheesh, no wonder I don't do message boards.
On the other hand...emoticons are fun...
And btw, however you look at it, I got conned. Even if I hadn't updated to OS 3 and called up the eBay seller, they would have said, "Don't update. Not our problem. Return it if you want. Can't download Apps? Tough ****" But their return policy is only store credit minus 20% restocking fee. You do the math--I lost either way. If I had been some grandma in Bumpkinville, I would've thrown the phone in the trash by now.
To Cut'n'Paste and everyone else--->thanks, your help was awesome. I understand I have a jailbroken but not unlocked phone, and that Ultrasnow will hopefully solve my problems. I'm glad at least that I got the phone to some semblance of working order.
I just have one more question:
My mom is using a ****ty, back-up T-Mobile phone that has to be eight years old (a purple flip-open clamshell nearly as thick as a brick). She can't take it much longer and is thinking about updating her T-Mobile service to get a new phone, another Blackberry probably, until the iPhone is resolved.
Should I get her to wait a few days for Ultrasnow, or does your gut tell you it's going to be awhile before it comes out (like more than a week)? DevTeam's blog says they're "working hard [for the money...oh so hard for the money]" but no ETA...
As long as I know...eventually...that this **** will work out, I'll be ok.
Matt
