Need help on deciding whether or not to buy the iPhone and jailbreak it

I want to buy an iPhone to jailbreak and to use it with my current provider (T-Mobile) but i heard a lot of negatives to my method.
1. To buy an IPhone, you have to sign-up to a binding 2 yr contract
2. Activation Fees after buying it

Any suggestions or should I just buy an already jailbroken iPhone?

You need to unlock your phone to use on a carrier besides ATT. To unlock first you need to jailbreak. Jailbreaking is a piece of cake. Unlocking is a little harder since you need to have certain baseband installed.

Also, u cannot use your iPhone on T-mobile's network on 3G. Only Edge. T-mobile uses a different frequency for their 3G network. all your get is WiFi and Edge.
