Grrr. I have no one to be mad at but myself. I decided that I would jailbreak my iPhone and I was all ready installing everything and in the excitement I forgot that last night when my Mac updated it also updated iTunes to 8.2 
So I ran the iPhone into DCF mode two straight times and I kept getting the same error. Then I finally realized! I can't even install a diff version of iTunes because it tells me that my files are configured for a newer version. I'm sure that there's a workaround to that, but for all the trouble I'll go through, I'll just wait for them to come with a way to go around the "blockade" or whatever it is.
I just wish I would have my iPhone jailbroken tonight ...
