jailbroken - no service?!

I have an iPhone 3G, with OS X 10.5.6 (already fixed the DFU mode problem) and when I jailbroke the phone, I had no service..? I am uninterested in unlocking, so I didn't do that. I am researching to see if I can find something but figured I would post here first. Thanks in advance for any help/advice. I am also in the process of restoring to factory settings.

Since you are already restoring, restore as new iPhone and jailbreak again.

If you are locked to a carrier, and are using the pwnage tool to create a custom ipsw, do NOT check the option to activate phone. Don't activate using pwnage tool or you will not have signal.

Thank you!!! Un-checking the activate in Pwnage worked. I now have service again. I have ATT.
