I downloaded quickpwn and the firmware, i start up quickpwn and it tells me to plug in my iphone. i plug the device in and it does not recognize it. the blue arrow stays greyed out even after 30 minutes of waiting. i downloaded quickpwn and the firmware from the links provided by TiPb.

anyone have a solution?

Unplug the phone and then plug it back in.

You can test if your computer is recognizing the phone by opening up iTunes, with the device connected, and checking whether you can see the phone in the left hand pane of iTunes.

Also, make sure you are using a good/decent USB cable and USB port.
