I only have access to PCs and have a 2.1 Jailbroken iPhone 3G. I want to upgrade to 2.2 and Jailbreak, but preserve the possibilty of unlocking in the far future.

The Dev team has said that "GOLDEN RULE: If you have a 3G iPhone and want potential soft unlock in the near future do NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool."

...My understanding is that PwnageTool is only available for Mac users. Does this mean that there is not an adequate jailbreaking solution for me yet (PC User wanting to preserve unlock possibility)? Is anyone working on a PC version of PwnageTool 2.2, or will there be another solution anytime soon?

I just don't want to keep waiting if there will not be any more jailbreaking/unlocking tools released for 2.2.

Yes, you are correct, the only way to jailbreak a iPhone 3G with preserving the baseband for unlocking later you need Pwnage which is only available on a Mac. Not this helps you much, but if you find a Mac you can borrow, here is a guide.

Thanks for the confirmation. Do you have any idea if the Dev Team plans on releasing a PC version of PwnageTool 2.2 in the future?

Yes, I'm sure it will be sooner, rather than later.
