Wanted to back up my 9.5 inch iPad

Plugged in the iPad. Chose iTunes to back up the iPad.

Then I see a window to either set iPad as new or restore from a backup.

Neither I just want to back up the iPad.

Set up as new will erase the iPad and restore will also erase and put things that I do not want on the iPad.

Weird the regular summary page does not show up.

Much appreciated. The only thing is I do not see that window. That is the summary page that never shows up.

All I see is this as soon as I plug the iPad to the computer.

According to what I’m seeing in your screenshot is you’ve never connected that iPad to that computer before or you’ve never setup that iPad for use with that computer. Is that correct?

Excellent then if you select the set up your iPad as new option, it will not delete anything from your iPad. It’ll just allow the device to be recognized by that computer. Still, create an iCloud backup beforehand just in case something goes awry.
