Why can't I connect to iTunes on my iPad mini using computer?

I can't connect to iTunes on my iPad mini using computer.

I have iPad mini and I wanted to transfer some files on it. But, when I connect it to computer nothing happens. My computer just makes sound like when we connect new device to it. But, my iPad does not sync. with iTunes. I've tried to reinstall iTunes and all those method which are frequently shown on many websites. Nothing could help me. Suggest the idea asap.

Have you tried a different cable and/or USB port?
