I've recently discovered that iTunes is chopping the filenames of my music off to enforce what appears to be an arbitrary filename length that is longer than the old DOS 8.3 length but significantly short of the 256 characters that Windows can handle. I'm still using iTunes 11 because of GUI issues with 12.

Is this still happening with iTunes 12?

This is important to me because I curate a library of music for a group, and I use iTunes as a database to manage it on my end prior to distributing the files.

I'm not aware of any changes in iTunes 12 to alleviate this limit.
