I've always wondered why this 20, then 50 limit was put into place. Was it required by AT&T at first? Is it to keep people under data caps? Has there ever been any thought given to allowing users to toggle the limit (so we Sprint users could turn it off, for example)?

50gb? I cannot see how anyone could go through that in a month, why complain?

    Unless I'm misunderstanding?

It's actually a 50 MB limit. It's a limit that Apple put in place to help both the user and the carrier. It helps the user by not allowing them to download large amounts of data and go over their limited data allowance. It helps the carriers by keeping people from clogging the network with users downloading huge apps.

Apple doesn't have any plans to change this. They did make the limits larger, to 50 MB last year. This was due to larger file sizes on apps.
