Using Home Sharing to transfer itunes from one pc to another

Recently purchased new computer and used homeshare to transfer multiple user itune libraries from old computer to new one. itunes help topics were good at showing how to do this, but there is a note saying as long as both computers remain active (I presume only referring to the itunes and or itunes library), the move will not be permanent. Once all moved over and checked, propose to de-register the original computer - will this make move permanent, as see no point otherwise. Help please and thanks in advance.
