I followed a post on Lifehacker for installing iOS5 GM on my iPhone 4 the other day, part of the instructions were to install 10.5 beta as that version of iTunes was required. Now that iTune 10.5 is available for download, how can I replace 10.5 beta with 10.5 'normal'. I'm using OSX 10.7 Lion, if i try and do a update it says everything is up to date.

Download it from Apple and install it.

Its advisable that you do update to iTunes 10.5 especially if you plan to run iOS 5 when its released this coming Wednesday. Its compulsory that iOS 5 users run this latest iTunes release, so if you want to be completely prepared, download and install iTunes 10.5.

Confusing... in this case, "B" refers to the software Build number. Not sure about the Windows version. The OSX version is build 141.

Ahhhh figured out what I did wrong. I downloaded the iTunes10.5.dmg and opened it and dragged the file in there to my 'Applications'. However I was suppose to have instead click on the install iTunes icon that was in the dmg folder, which would then install iTunes. When I dragged the icon in the dmg folder, all i did was drag the install iTunes program into my applications :o

    so now i'm running 10.5 (141).

    Thank you all.

Just double click the .dmg file that you moved to the Applications folder. That file is the iTunes Installer app. If you run it, it will install the 10.5 version to your Mac.

Anybody have problems with 10.5 and windows XP? I tried upgrading to it twice and each time it knocked my computer off of the Internet. I have a cable connection and could not get it to connect no matter what I tried. I eventually had to do a system restore both times. I never had a problem with an iTunes update in the past. Any ideas?

I still can't on this one computer. My XP laptop update no problem. My tower is having the problem. I tried 4 times. I uninstalled itunes, and did a clean install. After each attempt I lose my internet connection and cannot get it back. Each time I have to do a system restore.

    Bummer
