iphone does not appear in itunes anymore

My 3gs iphone (not modified or jb) was working fine. Now when I plug it in to the computer it does not show up in the devices menu in itunes. Also under FILE in ituen sync does not bold to indicate it is connected. any ideas?

press ctrl, alt, delete > > > open the taskbar and end iTunes and iTunes Helper processes > > > plug iPhone into PC > > > open iTunes manually and sync...hope this works for u

This problem appears on the forum every few months.

If all of these suggestions fail, go to Device Manager and uninstall the device. Then reattach and it will re-install. That should fix it.
