Newbie ITunes-iPhone Synch Question

Hello All,
I have the iPhone 3GS but haven't not synched it yet to iTunes and I'm buying a buddy of mine's "old" 2008 Mac Book Pro and this would be the first time I synch it to iTunes. I'm sure iTunes is on the laptop so my question is: Can I just synch it to the iTunes currently on this laptop or should I remove it and download it again.

You can sync it but it will be linked to your buddys apple account , I would do a reinstall .

and reinstall.
