I cannot restore iPod Mini 1 with error 1439 after failed sync.

I was trying to sync my iPod Mini (not nano) 1, and the battery was almost dead. I did not realize it, but the iPod was not charging while plugged in, and died while syncing. Now I cannot restore iPod using iTunes. It is in a Mac format, but iTunes on windows recognizes it.
