Show signal bars instead of carrier name

Is there any way that instead of the carrier name and dots (bars) being shown on my iPhone signal status that I can change it to show just the carrier bars?  does this in promotional materials for their iPhones (5 bars of LTE or wifi, then 9:41 AM, then battery icon).

That's too bad. I know there's a way to call some number to change your signal bars to number frequencies.

I think Apple has a deal with the carriers to show the name in the status bar. That way we don't have to have their names on the phones or their bloatware bogging down our phones.
