For me, the choice is Amazon because I have a good deal of purchased ebooks with them already and I only read ebooks via my Amazon Kindle Paperwhite ereader so the choice is a no-brained for me.

I use iBooks because it's built right into iOS and I haven't had a reason to try anything else.

Amazon mainly because I have a kindle voyage so I can read books I buy from Amazon on all my devices if I want to. However I use my voyage 99% of the time. The books are generally cheaper on Amazon too.

I started with a Kindle before I got the iPad Mini so I'll probably stick with Amazon. I haven't looked in a while, but I'd compare what kinds of books are being offered (since everyone likes to read different things) and then consider pricing and convenience/features before choosing. If you already aren't in one ecosystem, I think it pretty much all comes down to:

    1. Availability
    2. App support / features

Let us know what you choose

I prefer Amazon because it's easier for me to use between all my devices as I sometimes have Androids.

Amazon, I use an e-ink kindle. I love Apple and would be happy to go with them as my sole provider but e-ink is just to beautiful. Reading off the iPad is not the same.

Both stores have exclusives so for the time being it seems I will be making use of both services.

I use both equally so there's no clear winner at this time.

Amazon. I sometimes need to access one or more of my .Net dev books and I can do that at work via https://read.amazon.com/

I use Amazon 99 percent of the time. Most times the books are cheaper. I buy the audio for most books to go along with it and it is cheap as well. A major plus is it syncs no matter what device I'm using so that's a major draw for me.

Amazon for me. I have an e-ink Kindle that I absolutely love, plus with the Kindle app, everything syncs seamlessly between my Kindle, iPad, and iPhone.

I used to use the iBooks from the beginning, with the iPad and iPhone.
But when I sold my iPad (need money) I just try to give a chance for the kindle.
I bought the Kindle a couple weeks ago and for me is much better than iBooks.
The sync is incredible and the experience of reading on kindle is really amazing!
Another point for me is the price, I'm Brazilian and our economy is not doing well, so everything is expensive. The Kindle cost to me almost R$200 ($45 today) and we can pay all the books in our currency, different from Apple solution.
So I really recommend the Amazon solution now.

I like iBooks design and layout and features. I do use Amazon too but the really only thing that bugs me is that the Accessibility feature of iOS called Speak Screen, is kind of wonky with the Kindle app. Sometimes it works great and will continue reading page after page of the book I am in. Sometimes it just stops and I have to re-launch the app and go to the next page and re-start it. This sucks when on a road trip and just getting into the book. I don't have the problem with iBooks.
