I want to buy devices, I don't need to sell my phone or tablet.

I was under the impression that the phones traded in to AT&T as part of their trade-in program are to be recycled and not sold for profit, but I could be wrong. Sorry.

From VZW, so AT&T policy may vary. Verizon absolutely sells phones that are traded in. Financially speaking how could they give hundreds of dollars for a phone and not resell it. Now, yes most of them are actually given as replacement phones cause insurance policies don't guarantee a new phone, but just a WORKING and FUNCTIONAL phone. However, you can go to the corporate website and find refurbished phones. I'm pretty sure AT&T would do the same thing. The problem is they are typically not discounted that much so you might as well purchase the new one.

I have never heard or seen anywhere that traded in phones were sold to the public from any carriers...if someone has proof to the contrary I'd happily eat my words, but like Derek said, they were recycled as far as I remember (and qualified the carriers for huge tax breaks).
