I've had an XS for a couple of days now whilst I decide to either keep it or swap it over at the Apple store and pay the difference for the XS Max.

But I have noticed that the animations (app closing, returning to the home screen etc) are quite often a bit glitchy on the XS?

Is it just me or are the animations on iOS 12.0.1 not buttery smooth all the time?

I did a restore from backup as opposed to setting up a new phone but that shouldn't make any difference - should it??

Has everything finished restoring to the device such as photos, and videos, apps and app data? Z

Yes - the restore was from iTunes so it only took an hour or so for everything to go back on. The glitches aren't a biggy but they are there.

    Yes!
XS on 12.0.1 set up as new iphone does exactly what you're describing whereas my XS Max that was restored from backup is butter smooth. The XS Max is running 12.1 dev beta 5.

Maybe it will settle in after a day or so?

Mine was doing that as well, but after a couple of days it’s buttery smooth. Maybe needs to finish all the indexing everything depends on if you have a lot of apps.

Mine has had a little jank compared to 12 but it has not been crazy bad. I am sure it will get smoother as the updates progress.
