I’m keeping my XS Max for another year simply because, once again...the iPhone 12 doesn’t impress me enough with improvements to warrant giving Apple over $1000 of my money.

My battery, however seems to be draining quicker...and requires a charge before the end of my workday when it never did before.

However...my battery shows to be at 87% on the battery health meter.

Is that low enough to warrant a replacement?

Not in my opinion. With that being said, when did you notice the battery drain? How long has the battery health been at 87%?

I’ve noticed it in the last month or so...and frankly, I don’t know how long it’s been at that percentage.

To be honest I think that your battery behavior is normal for a two year old device as well as battery health percentage.

Take a look at this -- reports of excessive baterry drain on pre-iPhone 12 devices. So, if this is really a known issue, we could expect an update to deal with it.

Thanks for the information. I didn't know this. I'm not affected by excessive battery drainage on my 11 Pro Max running iOS 14.2.

I have no issues on my 11 Pro, my son is good with his 10s Max. But my daughter has on her 10r. All are on 14.2. So it’s not universal.

Congrats. I’m running 14.2...but I wouldn’t have loaded it if I’d seen that news by the Canadian source you provided. I actually had an appointment today at a Best Buy locally to have the battery replaced...but I’m going to cancel that. I want to see if Apple acknowledges a glitch in the 14.2 update on iPhone 11 & below...and “fixes” it in a forthcoming update. But, knowing Apple... that probably won’t happen.

For warranty, if your phone is still under that, your battery has to be under 80% for Apple to replace it with no fee to you. They will replace it for a fee if it doesn’t qualify under warranty. I think it’s either $69 or $79.
