otterbox defender case fan boy here, You need nothing, but an defender case!!!!
The Otterbox Defender is definitely a solid case and I also have one for my Xs Max, but there are those occasions where a nice slim Apple Leather case is needed for those special times that require charisma...LOL
I think a slightly frosted back on a clear case is a great idea. That's my only complaint about my clear Spigen... it shows everything, but luckily wipes off easily.
I always have 2 cases, the first one is always the Apple leather case as a daily driver, and the second one is a silicone case or a TPU case for going to the beach, or a day at the pool or something like that were the leather might get ruined.
I have a silk wallet case for my x I use when I go out and don’t want a wallet in my pocket and I have the smart battery case (which I absolutely love) and a leather case. That’s all I need.
For those of you with multiple cases how often are switching them out and why do you switch out?
I thought I answered that earlier. How often varies. Why is part of it. When I work around dirty stuff or rough service stuff I use a very washable and at times much more protective Speck Presidio Grip. Presidio Grip is an all time great for not being stupid thick or ugly but protective and great for holding during rough work. If not that I'll have an easy to wash TPU case. The Apple leather cases are favorites.
I like the phones in no case when possible so that's a big reason for liking the Apple Leather and a not too thick TPU case.
I used to have Otterbox cases for a long time, then my needs changed. I would like an otter box case that would hold more than 2-3 credit cards. I need to carry about 8-10 pieces of plastic, ID, CC, Bank, Insurance etc. I should not have to keep only 2-3 with me.
I currently have 4 cases. Right now I’m using a cleared TPU case which shows off my gold colored Max. I like super thin cases that feel like there really isn’t a case on. It doesn’t offer much prototection but it keeps it from getting any major marks on it with light falls, and putting the phone down.

Better match it with a tempered glass screen protector.
I have several clear TPU cases, 2 Casetify cases and a Gold sparkly casemate case. I switch them every couple weeks to clean my phone and depending on my mood. Right now at the moment, I have my Pikachu Pokémon Casetify case on my XS Max along with a tempered glass screen protector.

Yes. I have one of those on as well. I tried no screen protector for awhile but ended up putting one back on. I had a case and a screen protector ready when I first received my phone.

Recently got this in black. It’s very minimalistic with bumpers on the corners and a hard see plastic back. It’s open on the sides which I think looks great. I have the same screen protector since XS launch and is great.
