I think I'm waiting to see what Google has up it's sleeve with the Pixel 3, Pixel Ultra, or whatever they decide to call it before I plunk down another $1149+.
I felt like Bill Murray in the movie "Ground Hog Day" watching this years Keynote. It was just more of the same stuff we've seen before over & over again. I swear I'll puke if I have to watch another video of Jony Ive patting himself on the back ...

This is frustrating. I went through the pre-approval process, but it said I am not approved for financing. WHAT?!?! I am paying a $400K house mortgage payment for over 10 years and I cannot get pre-approved for a freaking $2000 phone??? What the heck??? Does anyone know why?
Check your credit, ive seen people with a 500 credit score get approved, make sure your credit is alright.

I can guarantee you, short of getting a massive raise where money isn't an issue, I am at my peak to what someone can get me to pay for a phone. The only good thing is I'm not really buying this phone because I upgrade through apple every year. If I had to buy it outright well I wouldn't.
The price is just way to expensive. I’ve bought every iPhone and upgrade each year but this time I’m on the fence. It’s $2359 for the 512gb here in Australia. It’s not an easy amount to swallow lol.

The event was too long for what was presented. Too much emphasis on what’s under the hood. I did order the XSMAX. It is a nice upgrade from the X which I thought was roo small. I like bigger screens for my photos.

I'm very much on the fence. I have an 8 Plus which is working just fine for me, but the extra screen real estate of the Max looks awesome. But that price tag... Luckily I own my iPhone outright and can get a credit toward the purchase of a new one, but I just don't know if it's worth the upgrade.

I’ll be preordering. I miss the size of my 7 plus and while the X has been a great phone, I want the screen real estate.

The watch on the other hand, I’ll just go pick up sometime in the next month or so. No rush on preordering, I’ll just have to live without OS5 on my OG for a little while.

Yes because I am on a yearly upgrade plan but mainly because I have an 8+ an I’m curious to try the “X style” phones. Considered the Note 9 but the “light leak” issue and curved screen turned me away from that.

It’s the “S” year so I’m not expecting any major upgrade. It’s more of an enhancement if you ask me. I will stick to my iPhone X and wait until next year . Besides, my phone is still running smoothly and fast using iOS12 GM version.

The only people I see that would make sense upgrading are the ones that didn’t jump to the new design of iPhone X and wants to have a different experience using a phone without a home button and using Face ID. Another group of people are those who have iPhone X and wants to go back to a bigger phone. Others, they’re just doing it because they have extra cash to spend (I wish I’m one of them!). Either that or they just don’t care as long as they have new phone every year.

Thanks but my credit score is over 700. Anyway, I finally have a chance to contact Apple Support. Apparently, I am not the only one. They told me to watching the Apple Newsroom for update. So if it is going to be announced on the News Room, it must have affected a lot of people. The Support Specialist has confirmed they have received the complaints from many people.

That's what happen when they try to squeeze all these pre-approval applications in a day and a half. It opens up more chances for errors.

I will watch the News Room, but I don't really trust that they can fix it. I am better off to just pay the full amount and done with it.

500 FICO approved? Not a chance.
Any time a financial institution denies an application for credit they are required to send a letter of explanation which you will receive. Chances are it's some standard boiler plate responses like lack of information, too many inquiries, not enough aged accounts, excessive utilization, etc. Most credit cards will show FICO score which is different than sites like nerdwallet and creditkarma. Those use Vantage which is generally irrelevant to which lenders consider for "credit worthiness". However, those services are good to monitor for changes and are free so there's that.

I tried upgrading my 8+ to a XS 64GB and it went through quickly. Just appears now that I need to wait until 301AM EST tomorrow to lock it in. Going to pick up a 256GB XS Max but that's for work and gets PIF with company CC.

This program has come a long way since 2015. Then you had to wait weeks if you wanted sim free and there was no way to get a preapproval. You had to do this at the Apple store. I remember I was in NJ and the process took about 5 minutes after they submitted the application. I guess the server load was high as it is on release day. That was a pretty exciting release, the 6S+.

This release is similar as we have yet a new form factor.

So now I look forward to spending a few hundred bucks on cases, again! LOL

As for the price, if you think about it, it's the same. The XS Max 256GB flavor is $100 more than my X 256GB cost last year. When we had the normal and plus, the latter was $100 more.

Even though I have a 512GB Note 9, I most likely will NOT be getting the 512GB XS Max. I've had my X for nearly a year and only about 100GB is used so it would be a waste. I stream everything especially with a plex server so no need for that kind of storage. I went with the Note 9 in 512GB because it has 8GB of RAM. That I can use actually.

    <cue the Columbo voice>

    And another thing...

I like that these (new) iPhones are dual sim. Almost. My Note 9 has two IEMIs because it can access two lines at once. The tray will hold two sim cards. Works great.

Now on the iPhone, I'm not so sure. I'm with T-Mobile. (both lines). Lucky me, right? So I can move a number to the hardwire ESN and then just use one of my nano sims? I guess so! Not sure how this will actually work until it's in my hands.

Another interesting tidbit is China doesn't allow ESN devices so iPhones for that market will actually have a dual sim tray like my Galaxy devices!

My friend had a 500 score on credit karma (fico should be even less) and he got approved for the 7+ on IUP, so idk lol

Correction, he had applied for a capital one card earlier and the credit score they had him with was 480. So even worse.

I still am not sure what I'm doing tonight. I'm wanting to the XS to use the dual SIM capability -- it would be nice to combine two phones into one -- just not sure I want to pay the money for what is otherwise a fairly minor upgrade. If I pull the trigger, I'm looking at a Gold Max.

Sticking with my X 256GB. Neither of the newer models offer anything to me that my X doesn't do already. It was a very long event for the 3.5 devices presented. The only thing that the AW S4 offers over my current S3 is the new watch face for S4 only.

Instead of getting credit for your iPhone, I would recommend selling it on swappa.com. I’ve generally gotten more from them than any trade in.

I was declined and got an email. They said my credit was locked at the credit agencies. Reminded me that I had locked it at all 3 agencies in the US after the Equifax hack.

    Those are crazy (low) scores...

As for the store, last two times (2016 and 2017) at precisely 3AM EST neither were accessible. The X sold out pretty fast but was easy for me to get. Early bird gets the worm, right?

Not sure how supplies will be this time around. A lot of folks I talked to, especially X owners say they're fine and plan to hold out to 2019. That's the most fiscally responsible thing to do (of course) but you know how that goes.

Same for me. I walked into a Best Buy about an hour and a half after it opened on iPhone X release day and purchased a silver 256GB iPhone X and I didn't even have to preorder it. There were quite a few of them, actually. The woman working the phone kiosk said people didn't want to pay that much money for an iPhone.

I’ve been upgrading ever year since the 6 plus. Had the 8 plus for a week and a half than exchanged it for the X. I don’t see a good enough reason “for me” to get the MAX.

Also, I have the 10.5” iPad Pro, I’m not looking for a small iPad mini. Ha ha.

The MAX is only about 1.4” smaller than the discontinued iPad mini. Plus, I’m having a little bit of a problem with putting the phone in my pockets. That’s the biggest reason I got rid of the 8 plus.
