Got the X last week of Dec and am coming from a 7 plus; the camera seems to be correcting very aggressively for light? I have True Tone off. Can you guys take a look and comment if this is something wrong with the camera? My 7 plus took amazing shots and didn’t need me to edit unless lighting was an issue.

    This is the first one:

Then the one right after, it corrects and seems way too cool.

It looks fine to me too
It could be the OLED display?

Look slightly "cool" but I don't think it's a limitation of the X. Sometimes when it gets a bit dusky out it's a matter of snapping the shot at the right moment with how the camera adjusts to the light.

The issue I felt was that First and second shot are merely seconds apart; one’s warmer and the second one is, for lack of a better term, less warm? I have also noticed pics are darker unless there is ample light. I don’t know if it’s me imagining it or it actually is something. Main concern being a hardware issue.

I see a big difference on my screen. The second one looks tooo blue. Maybe it’s tuned to the screen of the X and hence might not come out right elsewhere.

I’ve seen such cases with Samsung phones, where the pic looks brilliant on the phone but loses out when taken onto a laptop

That is exactly what I'm seeing. I have had to edit most of my pics taken with the X whereas before with the 7+, I rarely had to. My concern is if this is a hardware/known issue, should I try an exchange?

Try to get it exchanged and see how the new one works. My guess is it’s coz of the calibration of the OLED screen. LCDs are more accurate in colour reproduction

The screen shouldn't have anything to do with the camera though. Maybe the camera module is defective? It's like it can't decide where to pick for white balance, and maybe the conditions (lighting) are playing into that. Maybe try picking an exposure point multiple times in a row (same one) and see what happens and maybe try that with a 3rd party camera app where you can manually choose a white balance setting?

Screen does affect the camera colour algorithms. All phones are tuned to display their pics at their best on their screens. That’s where most people check the pics.

This is true for all manufacturers.

Snow and grey skies are extremely difficult to capture correctly. Does it happen all the time or just in those snow pics? I noticed when taking pics in the snow I usually take several shots or use burst mode and pick the best one. It's pretty common on all phone cameras I've used.
