Samsung products are nice but they've had their share of foibles. That said, IMO, the Note 8 is as good or better than their other great Note series...the Note 4, Note Edge, and Note 5 were all really good to me. Yeah, I don't get the benefit of the curved displays or the placement of the fp sensor. I'm sure there's a good reason for it's placement. The curved glass? Since I'm a screen protector girl that just drivesme crazy and is why I don't have a Note 8 instead of this Mate 9. The Note 8's display format and quality are second to none, IMO. ...but this Mate 9 leaves little to be desired and that says a lot given the price differential.
All that said, I'm always glad to go back to my iPhones after a while on this thing. However, if there was iMessage for Android?? Ah heck.
That Mate 9 is a fantastic phone. I ran that one for a while. The 4000mah battery is unbeatable and the screen is excellent. Easily one of the best bang for buck phones still today.
As for the curves, I agree completely. They look nice but they arent practical what so ever and serve no purpose. Its one of the things I appreciate about the X.
The fingerprint sensor is definitely in an odd space on the s8 series but on the other hand, I appreciate the option of still having it. Oddly enough, I rarely use it since the iris scanner works so well.
I wish the X would have placed a fingerprint sensor on the apple logo. To me that would have been a perfect compromise. It would fall in place like the Mate 9 does which feels very naturally.
Now if apple ever releases imessage for android it would be their biggest mistake. I would love it but it will cost them dearly.
