I got mine on launch day, walked right in to att store and they had ten phone I didn't believe it bought it on the spot

I'd like to know as well, my ETA is mid DEC. The sales associate said he saw people with December dates already receiving theirs. We'll see ...

I got mine the day after launch day when I walked into an Apple Store inside a nearby mall. I was in and out in about 15 minutes or so, and no, I did not pre-order.

Never ever do I buy devices like the X from carriers ... just a bad idea.

If you are in the US your only choice is a carrier phone, no SIM Free is available yet. Even if I did buy from a carrier store I pay full price, no contract, no payment plans. I would prefer a SIM Free X and they should have offered one on launch like they did on the 8/8+. Last year the 7/7+ was a few months behind and I was hopeful it would be the same but like apple they know they can stick it to their customers for months before they have to go sim free. option.
