Why didn't Apple use a 2k resolution?

It’s 2436x1125-pixel resolution at 458 ppi. So 1125p is pretty close to 2K resolution of 1440p. I’m sure you won’t be able to tell a difference looking at at, just like apples retina screen looks far better than a lot of full HD LCD displays from the other guys.

Why does Apple need to answer this question? Seems they’re selling millions of phones even without explaining why they aren’t using true 2K resolution.

I'm sure Apple has done a lot of testing. If they felt users would benefit a lot more with 2k, they would have used it. As it is, the screen will be close to 2k.

Coming from someone who used both a higher resolution android phone and the latest iPhone every year, watching movies on the android was a much better experience visually.
