I kinda don’t want to believe this. It’s not how Apple operates.

Don't believe everything you read on the interwebz. Do you think Apple would sacrifice security, especially since there is payments etc associated to the FaceID auth? Just to make more phones available at launch? Apple loves lines and back orders. The more demand the happier they are!

    So instead of 1 in 10^6 it's 1 in 10^5? :P
I would be more concerned about shock resistance of the dot illuminator assembly. Even protected by a case, the device is still subjected to considerable g-force internally when dropped on a hard surface, etc.

I have been following Macrumors website for many years and didn’t just pick up this article randomly on the internet and they have been pretty accurate so it’s hard to discredit them. I don’t believe it too that Apple would sacrifice their quality but coming from this website, it’s hard for me not to believe.

Can a mod include the word "allegedly" in the thread title? Talk about misleading...

I doubt Apple would do such a thing.
Tim Cook and Angela mentioned that it was fake news.

I would not immediately brush this off. However, it may just mean that 1 in a million security may have been compromised down to 1 in 500,000, which is still better than 1 in 50,000 (was it?) for touch ID type thing.
Something might be happening, you never know.
BTW, do Apple start designing and proving a new phone cycle yearly Thought they started designing a new phone a couple to few years go, and throughly tested component and manufacturing process etc. Why are they scrambling in panic now? Not "think while you run" ?

Some things—like mass production issues—are very difficult to impossible to predict ahead of time. There’s a big difference between building a small sampling of prototypes for internal use and mass producing devices for the public, especially at the scale Apple needs to launch a new iPhone (i.e. millions of iPhones in a small amount of time).

The only people who are saying that Apple is scrambling are news articles that are not linking to reputable sources for their information. We own stock in Apple. If this was really going on then the stock would be plummeting, and it's just not. It takes dips now and then, but it's certainly not indicative of anything that's being said in the news.
