But I was wondering on what’s causing the rainbow effect.

It's when the edge of the protector is on the exact edge of the screen where it ends to the bezel. I am getting a slight rainbow on the bottom right side of my screen but not the left because I ever so slightly when over the left edge of the screen. You only see it against a white background.

Have you seen the Cosmos Blue leather case? If you have how do the Cobalt and Cosmos compare? I'd be grateful if you could post a pic of the Cobalt. I don't always trust Apple's site to get a true representation of case colors.
