Don't forget it is $199 for the X if you usually get it with your new iPhone

Might be worth it, who knows how durable the harder glass and new Oled screen are with drops.

Yes, I agree that this is definitely something to take into consideration.

You will 100% need AppleCare+ with the iPhone X. The first drop on concrete or a similarly hard surface will result in cracked glass.

After 9 years of owning iPhones with zero cracked screens I'm not paying a 20% premium for insurance. So, some people 100% need it. But not 100% of people need it at all 😉

Glass back and $1800 CAD ($1200 USD)...yeah, I disagree but okay. To each their own.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it's not going to happen. I rather be safe than sorry. Just like car insurance.

Squaretrade is $129, still cheaper than Apple's $199

Most people invest in cases so it would take a very hard drop.

You do have a point there, but then you're not enjoying the design of the phone at all.

One thing is given. I will fumble my phone at one point and drop it. I don’t like dings or anything in my phone. So I always case it. I don’t want to have to put a claim in every time I fumble my phone. I never stare at the design on my phone. Just the screen.

Every iPhone = Case and Glass Screen Protector. I may forgo the screen protector on the X with the new glass, but never go w/o a case. Either the Apple Leather, which I have been using for years or a Speck case, as I like their quality.

Yup. Not my first glass backed iPhone and that's what cases are for - much cheaper. As for past history not guaranteeing future- agreed, but I like my odds. And I use a leather wallet case so I'm happy to save the money and self-insure.

I've never had Apple Care with my iPhone, but the X might be the first. It probably depends on whether I decide to use a case or not.

Price gouging on the Apple Care+ it shouldn't be more than $149.

I haven't bought Apple care plus on my iPhone 6 and 7 models because of the durability of the metal body, but with the new all glass design I will be buying it for sure when I preorder my X model.

Body material aside it does cover two screen replacements which seem to be key for a lit of users.

I usually get Apple Care since I pass my phone down to my 17 year old daughter when I’m done with it. I haven’t had to use it for myself.
