I think it's cute and novel, but it think it will appeal to the folks who want to personalize their messages. Doesn't this function only work on the new X model?

I agree! I'm hoping they'll have it for other iPhones in the near future.

I think it just plays in a continuous loop, like a gif.

You can save them as a GIF and send them to non iPhone X users, so all iPhone 5, 6, 7, 8 users. I am sure the will work as a GIF too on Android. They can only be created on the X. I would not actually use them.. as I don't even use the cartoons, bubbles and other stuff that is on iMessage now.

No, just...no. I can see kids and teens liking it, but other than that, absolutely not.

I use my phone for business and this feature is so unbusiness-like.

Same argument people had for stickers. #non-issue
