What podcast app do you use?

Just curious what podcast apps are being used by everyone. In my news feeds today I see a lot of updates on podcasts so I went to the app store and took a look at a few.

The Apple Podcast app has no rating but I’ve used it in the past and it does what I need it to do.

The Podcast App, 4.8 rating, 150k downloads. Also looks like there’s a subscription option, which means I probably wouldn’t use it.

Overcast, 4.7 rating, 22k downloads. Editors Choice?

Castbox, 4.8 rating, 43k downloads, subscription option.

So just wondering who uses what app and why.

I use Periscope most often. I also use Podcasts. A few are on Spotify too!

Pocket Casts. Mainly because it’s available as a service directly on my Sonos music system, but it is quite good regardless.

I use Overcast all the time. The Smart Speed and Volume Boost are required features for me.

I used to use Downcast most of the time, but nowadays, I don’t have the time to listen to podcasts anymore. If I did, I would probably just use the native Podcast app.

I used Downcast for a very long time. Exactly from about 2011 until I fully-switched to Overcast in 2016 and haven't had any reason to switch.

You couldn't pay me to use Apple's podcast app. It sucks.

I use the native Podcast app. It is about the same as all the others. I have tried them all. I say bring back 2005. Apple’s implementation of podcasts in 2005 was way better.
