How do you change the notification sound for the Gmail app?

Does anyone know how to changed the ding that you hear when a new mail comes in thru the Gmail app? I have searched and saw some guides how to change the sound, but those options are not there on my iPhone 11 with iOS 13 and newest Gmail app.

I’m not aware of a way to change the notification tone for the Gmail app on an iPhone.

I don't have the app on my phone. I use the stock mail app. My husband does use the Gmail app and wanted to tweak the notification tone. He found these directions from GMail Support, but I don't recall whether or not it worked. Let us know if it does work for you!
