Both are Music Discovery Apps. I have both on my iPhone. SoundHound seems to work a bit better but I’ve really enjoyed Shazam. I’m trying to decide if I should keep both, or delete Do any of you use either or both? Do you have a preference between the two?

I prefer Shazam myself, and since Apple bought Shazam I don’t know if the app will even be necessary as I’m sure it’ll be integrated with Siri soon enough.

both can identify songs reasonably well, at times one could be better than the other for some cases. For music, one should go with what resonates more with them, what can engage them more. But there are some unique features that SoundHound offers which can add to your delight, like try humming a song and it can identify. “Live Lyrics” are awesome where you can see lyrics in sync and moving along with the song you tried to identify using soundhound. And the very new hands-free feature, where you can talk naturally using “ok hound”, and can ask music questions like “show more songs by this artist”, “play a song by <artist>” or any music trivia question, or asking to play your favorite playlist on spotify, all by just using your voice. This will soon become more natural way to interact with apps, without any need to touch or type.

Hasn't this been the case since iOS 8?

True, but this would be a deeper integration than before. It’ll be interesting to see what Apple does with it.

I think this will have big implications with Home Pod, don't you?

You know, I didn’t even think of that. That would be great for HomePod.

I've pretty much used Shazam since it was introduced and have never used SoundHound. SH may be a great app but I've just never used it.

I only use SoundHound when Shazam fails me.
    They complement each other.

That’s how I discovered SoundHound... Shazam didn’t work as well as it had! I’m hanging on to both for the time being!
