Crop O Crop

Crop O Crop is an app that help you crop objects from photos for your photo editing needs.
It provides several simple, intuitive yet powerful tools to crop your photos.

Use a brush to mask the image and use Refine to automatically refine the mask around the object you want to crop.
You can soften your mask using feather and there are two modes to view your photo: Green mask or Transparency.

In the next updates there will be tools to help your crop out hair in a semi transparent way to make it blend naturally on backgrounds.

I am just one guy working on this on the side, I would like to get feedback and I want to make this app a great tool for photo editing.

Thank you,
Ofer.

Thanks everyone,
Version 1.01 is now available.

Here are the new things on this version:

* Support for editing transparent image as source.
* Mask brush by color feature(good for removing background color from hair).
* Invert mask.
* Create mask from image's original transparency.

* Big images related bug fixes.

Here is a new Demo of version 1.03(Still waiting for version 1.02 to approve by Apple).

In version 1.03.
Improved GUI and improved advanced tools(color mask and edge mask)

p.s., do you have any tips how I should edit this into no more than 30 seconds?(the maximum length for a preview on itunes).

You are both right.
It's very hard to understand this app just from using it, as I am still working on improving it.

First, I am not sure if it's clear or not.
This is a photo editing aid app. It lets you take a regular image and crop out an object/person/animal from it and save it with transparency.
This later lets you take this transparent image and use it in other tools as an element. Many other apps like photosop and other iOS apps let you take an image and use as an element. This app is dedicated to mask out the object so it will be an easier process instead of doing it inside another app that might be cluttered with other things or don't have the same tools.

So at it's current state if you use only this app you don't really get an end result that you would want to upload or share. It only produce a transparent image to use in your other photo editing apps.

How would I make a better video tutorial?
I know the videos are not clear, how could I make a much clearer tutorial?
Should I dub it? Put subtitles? Maybe I need to turn on visualizing touches and clicks?(Not sure I can with my screen grab app).

I know I need better tutorials, but I don't know that well how to do tutorials.
Basically the green color is the mask if you are in mask mode. If you are in final mode you see how the transparent would look like if you saved it at that moment(while imagining the checker pattern is the background or transparent pixels).

I will soon try to put here a written explanation of all the tools and with your help maybe try to work out a better video tutorial.

I tried to mask an . This is what I got. What I do wrong?

Ok, this is a good example.
You have drawn the mask with the brush, this is how you have drawn it.
However, if you want the mask to automatically trim around the symbol you need to press once Refine, it will attempt to automatically refine the mask you have drawn to fit the shape.
After doing Refine you might want to press feather to make the hard edges of the mask more soft.
Then you can save it with the top right button.
The Crop button just crops the canvas around your green mask.

The whole app basically performs operations on this "green mask". Your end result will always be the original image masked with the green mask.
So you are just using tools to shape the green mask until it fits your shape.
Some cases are more difficult than others as the automatic Refine doesn't always work 100% perfect.

Was this more clear?

Got it and placed on a different image. Didn't feather it though.
