Why does my Activity tracker keep pausing mid workout?

Activity tracker keeps pausing mid workout

I have tried to do an open goal other workout and an indoor walk and both times my watch would start the time for the activity, like it should do, and I would check it a few minutes later and it has paused itself.

I'm not sure if its a settings issue or a disconnect with movement between myself and my watch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What tracker is it,  Watch, Fitbit, Garmin?

Where is your tracker located? How do you start the workout? In the app or on your tracker?
