Does anyone use their iPad as a second pc monitor? What's the best app for this?

I'm not entirely sure this is possible, unless you simply wanted to mirror the screen. If you are using an iMac or Mac book then the built in Air Play app/function might work, BUT it usually goes the other way around the iPad screen to the PC or monitor. There's another program called Plex that MIGHT work. And you MIGHT be able to use some sort of remote access software. But in all these cases it would if anything be a mirror of the desktop screen NOT a screen extension like you can get with a multiple monitor setup.

VNC might help - although whether you get a second desktop, or just mirror the first depends on the capabilities of the OS running on the host PC. VNC works with Windows and Linux, and I guess OSX (plus many more).

VNC is profiled/reviewed in the iMore blog I listed. (last link)
