    Hi,

    Context:
I just picked up an iPhone 4s to test drive and I'm not as impressed with the Music situation as I'd like/I expected.

Over at Windows Phone the default Music app that appeared with 8.1 was less than great, so it spawned a bunch of replacement apps, currently Core Player is my favored one and was almost perfect for my needs, save for some quirks. Anyways, there's no shortage of easy-to-find local music players that aren't bad, necessarily.

    Query:
Now I'm looking for an app to play my locally synced music (I don't typically stream) as Apple Music (8.4) doesn't appear to let me swipe between songs/use gestures nor display the entire shuffled playlist in one go - basically the two features I care about primarily. (not a fan of the Radio or Connect tabs either, call me spartan)

I like to hit Shuffle All and let it go, scrolling through whatever random playlist it made and picking from that.

    What I tried to do:
I looked at a bit of the App Store and "Beat" is close to what I'd like, but not quite. Everything else seems to be some kind of Music downloader or video YouTube player, streamer/radio, trendy etc. - not quite my cup of tea.

So drop in your two cents and recommendations if you can.

    Thanks

No, I thought I saw this thread and commented last night. Maybe dreaming?

I used Spofity for streaming music and just the default music player for saved music files.

Totally understand your disappointment with the stock music app. I've wished for many years that Apple would finally add swipe to next song gesture, but it looks like they never will. Here are a few apps I've used that are pretty good.

Just wanted to drop in again and report in.

I've since picked up a 5s and I use Marvis, and couldn't be happier. There's no song skip swiping but the gestures (getting to playlist, main music list, etc.) are so well done I don't mind it.

I've been using Cesium and really enjoying it. So much less cluttered than the iOS app, and it does include gesture control options if that's what you're after.
