Simply having your app available in the App Store is not enough to ensure success. While some apps still achieve viral, global access, most rely on an effective marketing campaign pre and post launch to help them along. But selling your app shouldn’t just be about achieving your download targets – you also need to make sure that people keep wanting to use it long after it has been downloaded.
The answer lies in great execution. Here are four key ingredients that will determine the success of your app:

    1. Solve a problem
    2. Make it intuitive
    3. Start marketing in advance
    4. Be strategic about distribution

That was just about the most generic advice to a potential app developer that I've ever seen. You might as well have said "App needs to be good."
