    Hi.
I tried typing in a MS .doc and .dot file opened in Pages, and it won't work - can't edit the file.
Isn't pages supposed to do this?

Is the file a read-only file? I just edited a .docx file using Pages on my MacBook without any problems after reading your post.

No. Can open it on a PC; just not in Pages.
    Weird.
docx is the newer version of word files, right? I wonder if pages can only read the newest file.
