I've had this happen quite a bit to me and never really any explanation for it so, if it happens to you as well from time to time here's some troubleshooting steps you can take:
If you're encountering an 'Error loading. Tap to retry' message in YouTube for iOS, it may be related to a variety of issues, including:
No network connection
Recent changes to your account (For example: Password change)
To resolve this issue, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
Sign out of the app
Uninstall and reinstall the app
Disable and enable your network connection
Switch to a different network connection (For example: Wi-Fi to 4G)
