Ivor the Engine, the classic BBC TV series screened in the UK during the 1970s and 1980s, is now being relaunched as a series of games for the iPhone and iPad.

The first of these Ivor the Engine games is called 'Ivor and the Dragon' - a railway adventure game for kids (8+) and adults (bigger kids!) based on a retelling of an original story by Ivor the Engine's creator, Oliver Postgate.

In the game you take control of Jones the Steam, Ivor's engine driver, and help them solve a series of puzzles and mysteries along the famed Merioneth and Llantisilly Rail Traction Company Limited railway, as featured in the TV series.

Designed to be challenging, the game is really a test of your observation skills and makes you think. You'll need a pen and paper handy too so you can note down lever positions to put into play at the signal box. Different lever positions will take you different places along the railway line.

The aim of the game is to help Ivor the Engine find items around the game screens, and deliver those items to various characters in the game. You'll also need to go up Smoke Hill to find a very special item. By the end of the game you'll realize why it's called 'Ivor and the Dragon'!
