Redeeming free codes.

I have had issues last few days redeeming codes for free iPhone apps. The error message is saying that the code is for an app not compatible with this device. Not sure how thats possible. I have the iPhone 4 with latest software. Anyone have any insight. Thanks in advance

Maybe it is for iPad? Just redeem in iTunes then.

no its not for the ipad- I used to be able to redeem a code without issue- its just weird-
