Lots of my friends converted to liveprofile from Whatsapp.

We all love it. Can't live without the read receipts.

Can't wait for group chats!

waiting for the groups chats myself...

i know quite a few people who would dump their BBs and get iPhones for the group chats.

If anybody is on the fence between the different "BBM replacement" messengers:

Whatsapp:

-Finds buddies to add via your phone contact list
- Landscape keyboard
-Share photos, location (good for having your friend meet you at a spot), contact info
-More customization (more alert sounds, wallpaper background)
-No profile pic or avatar
-99 Cents for iPhone
- Free for BB (someone mentioned that it's free for the first year then you have to pay)

LiveProfile:
-Find people via Facebook friend list, phone contacts, or you can manually enter unique PINs
-Don't need to be a phone contact in your address book to be added
-Can share photos and insert emoticons
-Profile/avatar pic
-Can change your display name
-No Landscape
-No real customization: can't change alert sound, background/wallpapers, etc
-Free for iPhone
- Not currently ready for BB

I personally have both and I give a slight edge to Whatsapp since it's more polished at the moment than LiveProfile. LiveProfile seems like once it matures then it will be a better platform just because it's based on a PIN system.

I'll still give the edge to LiveProfile because of the phone number part. That's the whole purpose of using an IM. Might as well just SMS at that point.

LiveProfile is also set to release for other platforms. Has WhatsApp stopped at BB, iPhone and Android?

I actually can't wait for the wp7 version to come out.

I'm also eagerly awaiting the group chat feature. The closer it gets to BBM the better. Can you record a voice message and send it using LiveProfile? Looks like this app will be very nice once it's all finished. My PIN is LPFM6AMF feel free to add me.

You know when that will be? Any word on the groups? I'm trying to prevent everyone I know from dumping LiveProfile for Whatsapp or another client that already supports group chat....

i believe they said this month for groups... we'll see though. groups may come sooner for android though.

I like both for various reasons. I like Whatsapp better because the file size I can share is much larger.

Iv'e been using LiveProfile for a couple of weeks now and its the best Cross Chat app out IMO. Whatsapp is good but you have to have the person in your contact list meaning having there phone number.. I dont, like a lot of other people, dont want to give that out.

When LP comes out on BB its gonna be awesome and when new features are added. I think TiPB need to make a Social Networking forum now

I think it needs some more tweaking. On my torch it's got such a tiny font I actually don't use it that often. I prefer it on my iPhone now if we could only get some updates our for the iPhone I'd be set.

I like it, I enjoy the app. I am just sick of people treating it as a hook up or porn site. There need to be a way to block people.
