This month, iPhone app developer Curious Brain Inc. will be releasing a holiday update to the popular virtual cupcake making app, Julius Hearts Cupcakes, which features characters from Paul Frank Industries. The update will include dozens of fun, seasonal ingredients, accessories, and backgrounds. As part of the promotion, the app will be available to the public for free, and is expected to be live in the iTunes App Store by the week of December 13th.

The delightfully festive additions include gingerbread and candy cane cake options, winter mint and whipped cream frostings, eggnog and pumpkin spice sauces, snowflake sprinkles, and lots more. Two new gameplay elements are included in this feature: the ability to draw toppings directly onto the cupcake by touch, and the Bakecard, which keeps track of the number of cupcakes made and ?promotes? users through levels. The update even includes characters such as Julius Elf, Spicoli Elf, and Shaka Bra Yeti.

All of the features from the original Julius Hearts Cupcakes app will carry over into the updated version. Users design their own cupcakes by mixing and matching ingredients. Cupcakes can still be kept in My Bakery to be admired and virtually eaten later. Full integration with Facebook and Twitter allows sharing between friends and social networks.

The price of Julius Hearts Cupcakes, currently .99 cents, will be offered for free as a holiday promotion. The updated app will be available live in the iTunes Store during the week of December 13th pending approval from Apple. The app, originally launched in September 2010, has had over 63,000 sessions and holds an overall rating of 4 stars.
