Hello everyone, my name is Ben Baron and I'm the developer of a streaming music client for iPhone and iPod touch called iSub Music Streamer. iSub streams music from the open source Subsonic server created by Sindre Mehus. My app as well as Subsonic were previously featured on Lifehacker in the article "The Best Tools for Streaming Media to Your Gadgets" (The Best Tools for Streaming Media to Your Gadgets). Since then, iSub has evolved considerably and is continuing to improve with new features, user interface enhancements, and bug fixes.

Long Description:
iSub Music Streamer is a Subsonic client for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Subsonic is a music streaming application developed by Sindre Mehus. It allows you to set up a website on your computer to stream your music collection to yourself and your friends. It also has an extensive API that allows apps like iSub to connect and access your collection. Subsonic runs on Windows, Mac OS X, And Linux, does not require a display and can even be installed on some NAS (network attached storage) devices. Subsonic is GNU licensed open source software, and the web interface component of Subsonic is always free to use. Use of the Subsonic API after 30 days requires that it be licensed. More information on obtaining a Subsonic license can be found at Subsonic ? Free Music Streamer.

iSub is developed by Ben Baron and is designed for the iPhone and iPod Touch, but also supports the iPad. Harnessing the power of the Subsonic music streaming server, iSub allows you to access your music from anywhere in the world using either a Wifi or 3G connection. iSub supports background music playback so you can listen to music while you use other apps. The current playing song as well as the upcoming song are automatically cached locally as they are played for optimal network performance, then cached songs can be played later when no network is available like on an airplane. You can even cache songs manually to get ready for a big trip. iSub also offers full playlist management on the go, repeat and shuffle functions, and the ability to skip through streaming tracks even if they are still caching. If you share your music with friends, iSub allows you to chat with the other people on your Subsonic server right from within the app. Also, iSub makes the most out of the iPhone 4 with full Retina display support for stunning album art. Plus coming soon is Jukebox control, which allows you to use iSub as a remote to control your Subsonic server to play music directly from the speakers connected to your computer or media center.

More information about iSub including a feature walk through, frequently asked questions, and installation guide can be found at http://isubapp.com. Up to the minute info on iSub can be found on the iSub app twitter page @iSubApp and direct support for iSub is available by emailing support@isubapp.com. Information on the Subsonic music streaming server is available at Subsonic ? Free Music Streamer and there is a vibrant Subsonic user community on the Subsonic forum at Subsonic Forum :: Index. Forgot to mention one of the best features of Subsonic and iSub.

Subsonic is able to transcode music on the fly from almost any format to mp3. So you can load your Subsonic server up with FLAC, Apple Lossless, M4A and AAC songs (as long as they don't have copy protection) and Subsonic will happily convert them to MP3 format in real time so that iSub can play them.

Also, direct play of M4A and AAC files without transcoding is also supported by iSub.
