Just saw "Free Wi-Fi Finder". It is free in the App Store. Do not know how good it is but it is free.

That is the nice thing about WifiTrak. It will scan the area you are in to see ALL WiFi connection close to you. Locked and Unlocked. It will even let you know which connection has the strongest signal and which one has the least amount of traffic one it.

    Well worth the $0.99, IMVHO.

I've got an app for you to have a look at that raises the bar on iPhone wifi scanning. While it is not free, for $2.99 it has a very impressive feature set already in the 1.0 version with much more on the way. There will eventually be free and lite versions of this, but, in the mean time, it is worth having a look at yFy Network Finder.

Just look for "yFy" on the app store. :-)
