Does any one know if the weather channel or weather bug will add push to the apps soon ? I know that weather alert has it but the other two are way better.
    Thanks

I'm hoping they do too, the other push apps are useless to me, weather push would be awesome..

Also check out Umbrella. Costs a buck, which isn't bad.

I'm not 100% sure but it looks like the new "AP" app will notify you of Severe Weather in your area. I just downloaded it and it does push information. You set your location and the weather adjusts accordingly.
I've been looking for a sever weather push since the upgrade. Just hoping the Weather Channel app will finally jump on board with push.

If you are mostly concerned with severe weather alerts, you may find that you can get text msg alerts from the National Weather Svc.. In New York, the state emergency management office (among others) has subscription options for text and e-mail alerts of natural disasters and severe weather. The advantage of a text alert is that is may come through in fringe coverage areas and doesn't suck the life from the battery as quickly as a push app..

i seen that weather channel updated there app but still no Push for bad weather. Why the hold up for the major weather apps to have push ???

because they have to update their server architecture to handle more load, write server applications to accept the push notifications and send them that scale, test internally and with push.

it's not as simple as adding push to just to the app otherwise every cheap app would have push notifications

I just bought WeatherAlert last night, now if only we could get some actual weather here in L.A.!!! It has a setting for fires so I guess we'll see how that works soon..
